When ripple fired these rockets are used against personnel both exposed and sheltered in the open-type fortifications as well as in the soft-skinned and lightly armoured materiel. The development and tests were completed in 2004. It was accepted for service with the Russian Army by №1288 Order of the Russian Federation President. The document is dated October 7, 2004. The warhead designation is 9M216 (Excitement (Volnenie). The rocket is designed to use from the 9K58 Smerch multiple launch rocket system.
