The Mk45 HPU installed on a Los Angeles type submarine includes 12 launch shafts located outside the strong hull of the boat in the bow main ballast tank. Each shaft has a sealed steel cup, lid, bottom, skirt and missile ejection system. The latter is located at the bottom of the shaft and includes a gas generator with a pyroelectron. The pyropropatron is ignited by a detonator, the signal to which comes from the firing control system.
In addition to the above mentioned components and mechanisms, the mine is equipped with sensors fixing the KR output, an optical seawater level indicator and connecting cables. Structural design of the launch shaft UVP Mk45 does not require significant work on its restoration after the launch of the CR for reuse.
